For me, brings to bear a new level of long range perspective. It may likely be that an as yet unheard of technology will displace the whole idea of chips. A new paradigm is as likely as a major change within the current one.

Good article Bob,

In reality Cymer is powerfully positioned. They will come up slowly until we here about 193nm...in my opinion. Then all bets are off. Shorts better be covered. There is still a lot of 248 work left to be done in the fabs and there are a bunch being installed. Cymer chose wisely to be the best at 248nm. Now a strong backbone is in place. Good management decision.

A little off topic, but great post on the future and fiber. Obliquely relevant to CYMI, as most of the chips used in the future will be made with CYMI lasers.
