Kanata,Ontario based Extreme Packet Devices specializes in semiconductors for high speed
IP and ATM traffic management at 10 Gigabits per second rates, enabling the development of OC-48 and OC-192 multi-service switches.
Extreme Packet was acquired today by PMCS Sierra for 415 million US.It was founded last year by CEO of NN.
NN has around 10-15% stake and is using Extreme Packet fabric in its 50/450 platform(OC-48 and OC-192 and OC-768 under development).
Looks as if NN has quite a lead over LU and CSCO.
Both competitors do not have OC-192, where 50/450 have.
Acquisition by leader PMCS underlines what NN have in its 50/450 gig switches.
