Ken Smith of Munder NetNet February 28, 2000 Sage Host: Please welcome Ken Smith, Portfolio Manager of Munder NetNet and The Future Technology Fund. For more information visit netnet.munder.com or call (800) 468-6337. Ken Smith: Good Morning everyone. The Chat Question: What are your thoughts on Metromedia Fiber Network, Inc. [MFNX], the leader in deployment of optical networking and Internet infrastructure? I think Metromedia is really just a play on broadband. We like the company a lot, and as broadband becomes a greater need of service providers, we think they are extremely well positioned to supply bandwidth to all the future applications. Question: What is you short-term future for 3Com Corporation [COMS]? Short-term, very positive because of the Palm, Inc. [PALM - proposed] spin out. I think that could account for the majority of 3Com's market cap. Longer-term, we think Palm is the value in the business and it is the part we want to own in the future. Question: Internet Capital Group, Inc. [ICGE] and i2 Technologies, Inc. [ITWO] have been hit hard lately, do you consider these two stocks buys? Internet Capital, we think, is a long-term buy. It is going to be very volatile, but the company's investments in business-to-business companies will pay off in the long-term. But in the interim, there is going to be a lot of volatility in the share price. i2, we think, longer-term will be a very solid company. Over a short-term, the stock has been hurt by the automotive exchange announcements made by General Motors Corporation [GM] and Ford Motor Company [F]. The question is to what degree will i2 participate in the buildout of those exchanges? We think at the current price it is probably more reasonably valued, but they still need to do a lot of work in a very competitive environment. Question: What do you think of Powerwave Technologies, Inc. [PWAV]? Is it still on a ride upward and still a buy or risky? Powerwave is a leader in the wireless amplifier market. We think that market is poised to grow significantly in 2000 and Powerwave, as the leader in that market, will benefit from that growth. The stock has had a tremendous run, so at current levels we think it may be a bit extended, but investors have shown that they are willing to pay for leadership positions. So while Powerwave may be volatile in the short run, we think it is a good long-term investment. Closing Remarks Sage Host: Thank you for joining us today, Ken! We appreciate your insights! We continue to see the Internet and technology driving the economy and the markets. We expect this area to be volatile but we remain long-term proponents of technology investing. Thank you very much for your time!
