But it seems from the TV show that "Li"(sp) was strongly hinting that the crime sceen was jeopardized by the police themselves.

Lee's point was that the crime scene holds many clues to the trained eye, and you only have one chance at examining it. The New Haven police did not ask Lee to examine the crime scene, nor examine Suzanne's body before it was cremated. Essentially Lee is throwing up his hands and saying there's only so much I can do now, but I'll do my best. Personally, I think he's also taking a backhand slap at the New Haven police, as well he should.
