RadioShack's Total Retail Sales Soar 19% During February; Third Consecutive Year of February Double Digit Comparable Store Sales Gains

FORT WORTH, Texas, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Tandy Corporation (NYSE: TAN - news) reported today that total retail sales of its RadioShack division for the month of February 2000 increased 19% to $338.2 million from $284.8 million during February 1999. On a comparable store basis, sales at company-owned stores increased 14% for the month, on top of double digit gains in each of the prior two years. Sales to dealers are included in total retail sales figures, but are not included in comparable sales results. The extra leap day in February 2000 positively impacted the reported monthly sales by less than 4%.

``Led by continued strength in our direct-to-home satellite business and wireless communications, each of our major product categories grew over the prior year,' stated Chairman, President and CEO of Tandy Corporation/RadioShack Len Roberts. ``With the upcoming consumer launches of the RCA and Microsoft stores-within-a-store, we anticipate further revenue growth throughout the remainder of the year. RadioShack's ubiquitous presence makes it a powerful force in the adoption of emerging digital technology and services and the consumer's one-stop shop for connecting things, people and places.'
