John,

I do believe splits can have a psychological effect on individual investors, but I don't think it will have any on professional money managers.

The effect on momentum stocks that split has been huge for the last few years. I realize that a split adds little fundamental value, but the effect cannot be lost on anyone including the professional money managers. . It may be artificial and it may be temporary but it happens. The money managers may use other means to justify, but I would be shocked if institutional flows in JDSU were not higher in the 3 weeks prior to split than in the 3 week post split
