Lew, I hope that I am not late in answering you. I don't stop by as often as I used to.

I take it that you are of the Pentacost faith. I was pretty well raised in the Assembly of God and maybe this is the reason you ask me about the Holy Ghost or now days the Holy Spirit and how people react to Him and the manner of worship in different Churchs. I think that the Baptists are to formal and some of the Pentacostals are too "wild" in their worship. Not all though. I do not feel comfortable when all speak in tongues at the same time or get slain in the Spirit. This causes all types of actions like holy laughter and spinning and dancing and causes, imo, much disorganized behavior.
My wife and I watched a movie tonight called the Apostle with Robert Duvalle. I expected the movie to make fun of Pentacostals so I was wary about watching it. However, I thourly enjoyed it as Duvalle is a troublesome character but he loves the Lord and is one of the best examples of what I enjoy about Pentacostal preaching and worship. I have to admit a lot of the worship stuck with me because I feel that the openness and sharing of feelings with one another is so very Spiritual. I love a Church that is very strong on the presence of the Holy Spirit because their is love for one another expressed openly. You don't find that at many Churches that forbid any expression other than an occasional "Amen."
I stopped attending the Assemblies about 7 years ago because of the belief that you must speak in tongues as evidence of the Holy Spirit and the teachings about gifts of the Apostles such as those possesed during the Pentacostal period as being gifts that we can possess today.
God bless you Lew and I sincerely hope that your Pentacostal experience is going well. I hope that I have not said anything in the past about this that was troubling to you.

James

Dear Lewis,
The true Holy Spirit presence in a Congregation will bring order and self control. IMO the problem we have are people acting the way they think they are supposed to act to prove the presence of the Holy Spirit. There can be enormous pressure put on to speak in tongues to prove they are saved.I am sure this grieves the Lord. However, the true presence of the Holy Spirit as you are speaking of will bring an abundance of the fruits like, gentleness, peace, joy, and most of all love. The meeting of a Church is to build up and encourage each other. If they come and see a bunch of people putting on a show for others to see they are saved how can they be encouraged or uplifted? Traditions are everywhere and block the Holy Spirit from our midst IMO.
As far as the Church being taxed my opinion (for what it is worth) is that God may be disciplining the misuse of money given for His work. How many Church's have brought the faith to disgrace in recent history? The Lord told them to give to Caesar what is Caesar's in regards to taxes and give to God what is Gods. People belong to God their very soul and spirit not just the building or group for worship. It is always a shame when the righteous are brought under the discipline of the rebellous. This Church seems to be suffering more than their portion and I have prayed for mercy for them
I am going on vacation for a week and will not be around. The Lord bless you with His peace and joy to overflowing,
Nancy
