Hello Confluence:
I,too, have just listened to the archived version of the news conference (?). Some news conference! This is where a good PR advice could have helped SUF, instead of being almost an embarrassment. I call it another lost opportunity for SUF management! They have not learned from past news conferences...

First of all, a PR firm (I thought we were promised one at the last AGM) would have properly rehearsed the proceedings with all the participants, ie. what statements to make, what questions to anticipate and how to answer them; prepared a binder full of easily accessible data for the new Prez, and would certainly not have suggested that Pres Banning simply read the press release which had already been distributed to all concerned.
Instead of CJ dominating the air time, it would have been more prudent to have Mr. Banning chair the proceedings, delegate answers to members of his staff, or have all the appropriate data in front of him, rather than being put on the spot and expected to answer fine details off the cuff, showing the world that he hasn't yet grasped all whats going on with SUF!

I bet a dollar for donuts, a good PR firm would not have recommended such a debacle to get on public display without proper preparation of the participants! Someone suggested earlier that a PR firm is a waste of money! Thats a lot of bull! PR firms help companies sell their goods by informing consumers! Informed consumers spend their money wisely. Its no different in the mining sector. Informed investors will buy shares.

Secondly, SUF's board of directors, aside from displaying a serious lack of understanding about marketing and public relations, also suffer from a perceived indifference by not supporting their own company. How many shares are held by directors (aside from CJ)? What have they done lately to support the share price? They live on another planet if they feel that by sending a press release to the Northern Miner will do wonders!

I will not dwell on the points listed by you - I completely agree with you! As you know I have been following SUF far too long, and watching painfully as deadline after deadline is missed! A PR firm would certainly not have allowed the company to come out with press releases (or statements) unless they were timely and kept to a promised time line. Delays in promised action only propagates mistrust!
Regards. Goalie.
