I can't find anything that says so, in this 190-page document on federal trademark law and rules:
uspto.gov

That's for a trademark.

A copyright doesn't require a registration, so that's no big deal. You say "copyright 2000 Mighty Mezz" and whatever you have written will be protected. Unless somebody else already has the copyright. For example, SI has the copyright on whatever we post, I believe.

Say, does anybody think that the check has cleared?
