Hi Ed,
I wish I could give you some sound financial or technical basis for my $600 figure. However, I'm mostly guessing (hoping?). I'm using QCOM as a model, since it has similarities to JDSU: patents which are a barrier to entry, and domination in its field. They both have products that are going to impact most people's lives significantly in the future. They are in wide-open fields, and they both provide the physical foundations for the new economy.

As people realized this about QCOM, it became very popular. And I think this, more than fundamental factors, resulted in the quadruple last Fall. As I wrote earlier, I think JDSU is in the public consciousness around the level where QCOM was last Summer. Thus, I see one more giant up move when JDSU goes fully mainstream. I don't think JDSU has quite as much oomph behind it as QCOM. (I hope I'm wrong.) Thus, I'm looking for a triple.

(Rick (rr5), what's the basis of your looking for a triple by September?)

Re: the S&P. I'm using the action of AOL and YHOO as guidance. Both dropped quite a bit the next morning. YHOO started coming back almost immediately. With JDSU, I would want to be ready to buy back the next day, depending on general market conditions.

Ed and Rick, thanks for the kind words.

John
