I sure as heck am glad I didn't take that advice. I wouldn't have bought IWMSF at 4.73 US.

I just spoke with Schwab Global Services with regard to the IWMSF issue. This symbol is used to distinguish Canadian stocks from US stocks. When you place an order with Schwab, the order is executed by a Canadian market maker and shares of IW are purchased on the TSE. They had no idea what the "grey market" is in reference to, nor do they have any idea why a company's IR department would say not to purchase them.

Whenever I have bought Canadian securities through Schwab with a MARKET order, my fill price has always matched what I see as being the current ask . I've never gotten a bad fill.

In my mind, the only issue here is that I can't get real time quotes through Schwab, but I have no desire to pay for this ability through Stockwatch OR go to the trouble of opening a Canadian account.
