Motorola to Extend Its Fixed Wireless System?s Product Line into the 3.5 GHz Band with Airspan?s Flagship AS4000, AS8100 Systems
Airspan Networks Inc., a market leader in fixed wireless telecommunications, today announced that it has signed an OEM agreement with Motorola?s Network Solutions Sector (NSS) whereby Motorola will market and distribute Airspan?s AS4000 Wireless Fixed Access System and AS8100 Access Management System to telecommunications service providers worldwide.
Airspan?s systems will be offered as a part of Motorola?s wireless solutions portfolio which is aimed at network operators providing fixed access communications services. With network deployments in more than 25 countries, Motorola is the world?s largest provider of fixed access technology, bringing landline telecommunications quality to the global marketplace.

Airspan?s AS4000 range of wireless access systems provide robust, broadband CDMA for a telecommunication service provider's local access network.
These systems enable 32kbit/s and 64kbit/s telephony, 56kbit/s modem connectivity, 2B+D ISDN, 128kbit/s leased lines, and internet solutions for business and residential applications.
Designed to provide near line-of-sight wide-area coverage, the systems operate over distances up to 25km.
AS4000 systems connect to the telephony network via a standard local exchange/central office switch interface, and to data and packet networks using standard 2Mbit/s and 1.5Mbit/s interface technologies.
A wide range of ST types are available. These include units for analogue telephony (single, dual, four and multi-line variants); 128kbit/s digital leased lines; Basic Rate ISDN; and packet data terminals. The ST comprises a compact and unobtrusive radio unit which is mounted externally at the end-user?s premises, a drop cable that connects the radio unit to an internal unit, and regular network termination points. The radio unit includes an integrated flat-plate antenna that can be installed and maintained without any specialist radio knowledge.
Airspan's Radio Base Stations are named "Central Terminals" (CTs). These provide the radio link to the Subscriber Terminals (ST) which are deployed at the end-users? locations. In addition the CTs provide connectivity to an operator's switch, to an Access Concentrator (AC) for "Demand Assigned" operation, or to datacomms equipment. Network interfaces supported include 2-Wire VF, 2Mbits G.703 with CAS in TS16, DASS2, DSS1, V5.1 or V5.2 signalling schemes. T1 (1.5Mbit/s) interfaces and signalling schemes are also supported. |
