Actually, it was already known that Dubya did not intend to appoint homosexuals to politically sensitive positions, or that he intended to make conservative judicial appointments. It is, however, not unusual for the sincerity of such positions to be called into question, and explored in private meetings. I doubt that Dubya will specifically ask for a pre-judgement on Roe from potential appointees, but I do not doubt that he will look for the kind of judicial reasoning which is consonant with overturning it. It may be that Bush had to assure Robertson that he would not select a running mate who was pro- choice, I don't know, but so what? I do know that the prospect of having people quote out of turn after a political meeting is sufficient reason to insist upon confidentiality, and that the inference of nefarious business being transacted is, well, unnecessary. Sorry, I don't feel any shame......
