marc, I guess a true hedge would be a counterweight in the same arena as the stocks being hedged. I have been hedging small/midcap company tech funds with a big cap tech hedge. Since small/midcap stocks have been outperforming the big caps, I have been lucky. Similarly you have used a big cap balance hedge for a small cap growth fund, 2 tech funds & a big cap fund. You too have been lucky, especially since you hedge and longs have been making money. I'll have to think this through.

I use Point & Figure indicators and would be long in a NY minute if they went positive. That probably won't happen for awhile.

BTW, Bob is falling into the same trap. On his show today, he points out the port #1 results vs. W5000 & SP500. Comparing apples to oranges.
