I doubt if 1Gs will sell for $1000 for any length of time. I think a realistic segmentation for AMD until Thunderbird/Spitfire volumes kick-in is to sell <600Mhz K6s in the $40-$60 price range and sell 600-800MHz Athlons in the $100-$200 range and sell 850-1G Athlons in the $200-$500 range(OEM prices).

That should drop K6 ASPs to about $50 and Athlon ASPs to $200 and over blend closer to $100.

<BTW, would anybody want to buy a 950 MHz computer if the Giggy was $100 more?>

Good question. I personally would but I may not think like a typical consumer. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
