I was told by customer care that the Iridium migration has already begun. I was also told by a local Airtouch rep that one of obstacles they are having to overcome is to convince prospects that this system IS NOT Iridium. Some tried the phone and hated it. I was also told that there is high interest for a sizable order from a regional utility company. The local folks here think they are going to sell some phones and minutes and this isn't a big region. Finally, I was showing my phone off today on top of a ski hill whose cell call was just dropped. We completed it on my phone in sat mode and he is buying next week. He does a lot of work in Wyoming and says he has no cell coverage there most of the time. He couldn't believe the call quality and the other end had no clue that is was a sat call. Airtouch ought to give me a nickle for all the promo I am doing for them. Can you believe I have yet to see the tv ad?

Great. No problem. Like I said, I am not long or short Iridium or Globalstar, although I did own both long quite a while ago. I will be interested to see what happens to Iridium's satellites, and other assets, now that McCaw doesn't want to buy it.
