Everyone's equity portion is different, depending on their age, ability to handle risk, etc. For pre-retirement, someone's allocation may have been two-thirds equities and one-third short- to intermediate-term bonds. (Prior to the sell signal, Bob didn't recommend cash, other than a small emergency fund. Also, no commodities.) For that individual, Bob is still recommending the one-third in bonds. But he recommends sale of 60% of the two-thirds-equity-position and movement of the proceeds to a money market.

Best wishes,

I2
