Well I did it. I waited till I got the new machine.

Sometimes when I'm playing in the Q3 Arena the computer beeps and the game stutters. I'm wondering if I'm getting probed through their servers. I'm going to install this now and try the game later and see if I get any hits on my ISP number.

You have ordered 1 copy of BlackICE on Sun Mar 5 2000. You will have download access for this file through Wed Mar 8 2000. The name of the downloadable file is BIsetup_1.9.20.exe and the filesize is 2.75 MBytes. The License Key is xxxxxx-xx-xxxxx.

A question about backing up programs:

Is it practical to zip a program folder and it's sub directories, say Excel or Word, and save it to virtual drive for backup purposes? In the event of a hard disk failure would the virtual backup be restorable? Or would the software only work if restored from a complete backup of the system or the original CD's?

I ask because my backup resources are limited in my current system. I'm thinking of using a free virtual drive to cover myself. I've always wondered about backing up programs because of the copy protection measures that may be in place.

Thanks,
Esteban

I already received a probe. It came from a band's website. .

www.meremortals.com

I sent them an e-mail warning them of it.

Dear Sir or Madam;

At 12:08:34 on March 5, my firewall detected a port probe through your website. If someone has access your isp address for redirect to my computer then I would suggest updating your security. If it was you that did it, you have been warned by me not to attempt it again.

If this happens again I will report the intrusion to the authorities..

Thank you;
Corran Horn

mr.mark you should start a thread where we can all post the addresses of these intrusions so we can compare notes. I'd like to know if there is a pattern to these types of things.
