More DD on the private portfolio: etang.com hoping to go public in the first half of 2000. This is a mainland China portal that targets the 18-35 "yuppie" demographic. The company was founded in July 1999 and launched its Web site in November 1999. It has raised $49.5 million in two rounds of venture funding and hopes to go public in the first half of this year. China's policies regarding Internet investments loom as a possible barrier in these plans to go public.
