What made him join MSFT in the first place back in 1985 was the sense that he could help power an underground revolution against the stifling weight of companies like IBM.

And now MSFT is the IBM. For those that look alarmingly at the SUNW PE, this fundamental shift that's occurring between MSFT and SUNW is similar to what happened years ago between IBM and MSFT. Someday SUNW will be in that position, having gotten fat and lazy and undone by disruptive technology. For now and likely for a while to come, they're riding the wave.
