jw,

Thanks for the win2K buying tips. A local store had oem for $129 plus tax so I grabbed it. Didn't get much farther than that though: ###### thing WILL NOT INSTALL!!!

I'm almost too irritated to talk about it yet (it's been about a week since I gave up trying).

I get a message on the second bootdisk that hal.dll will not load, error code 7. The thing that really gets me is I can't find anything about this error on the Microsoft site.

I successfully installed a beta version of win2k server several months ago, but that was on a BP6 board. I'm working with a BH6 v1.02 now. And the beta-server won't install either. I'm thinking the board is not compatible, but I called Abit and they said it is. Tried posting to a couple newsgroups with no response and I didn't see anyone else with my problem. I might just get a BP6 board cuz I just feel it will go with that.

BTW, the new 40G/7200 Maxtor drives are out. I got one at Staples for $300. Now I just got to figure what I'm going to do with it...

PS I know you're going to ask did I do the BIOS update to NV something or other: yes, (cool thingie!).
