Yes, everything McCain has done has been a gambit because he was a media driven property, who dismissed serious issues in favor of the tactics of vilification.

You have to agree with Brit Hume and George Will on their respective programs. Both made the salient point that McCain beat Bradley, not AlGore.

W/o the media push behind McCain there would have been a Bradley victory in NH instead of a 4 point AlGore squeaker. So McCain was a twofer for the Media who built McCain

1) to cripple the Bradley drive against their candidate AlGore.

2) to divide the GOP

McCain's intemperate remarks, his heinous use of religion to spread a message of hate and division and his repeated lying are what defeated his campaign despite his major media backing.

Still, I agree with George Will that McCain's tactics will be forgotten as AlGore unites the country against the extremists and special interests that rule him and the Dem Party.
