Hard to believe for an old fogey like me: --(BUSINESS WIRE)-- What: On Monday, AMD is announcing it has commenced shipments of 1GHz AMD Athlon(TM)processors. Leading PC manufacturers will also make announcements on the availability of systems based on the 1GHz AMD Athlon processor. The first commercially available systems based on the 1GHz AMD Athlon processor will be available beginning Monday. I remember many years ago when I thought my 16Mhz 286 was a screaming machine! I remember when I ordered it, I waited all weekend to decide if I wanted the 20 meg or the 40 meg HD for an extra $100...<sigh> Theo;-)
