McCain has been mostly Media-driven, as his manager admitted. He has also been lie and hate-driven, which cannot be denied. The latter arguably makes him the better GOP candidate to face AlGore, pitting fire against fire, liar against liar.

I prefer Peggy Noonan's argument, that Bush's issues trump McCain's personal quest to validate his own lost honor.

McCain the candidate of Big Media special interests:

George W. Bush's $69 million has less cash value than the unbought adoration of journalists--that bloc of nonconformists--for John McCain (who of course wants government controls on the kind of contributions he has not depended on.
