I like this part of the news release

Sony says it's waiting until cable and other broadband Internet access is more widespread, because downloading games and music over conventional phone lines remains too slow and would only frustrate consumers

Interesting article. PCs are also developing rapidly and game stations might have a hard time catching them. Some PC makers are also talking about electronic appliances replacing the PC.
