REQUESTED & not by Peavey who told me TODAY ALL my writing = corny. Wednesday, January 26, 2000 7:01 AM ET Reply #970 of 1258 Hello, Did you catch the reference I made to Trader's Edge in my post? Look for it in either traderspress.com or amazon.com [I've since learned that amazon.com's "restocking" charge makes this a better point of purchase by someone who addressed this point later.] That book is a must for anyone seriously interested in leveling the playing field. You see, all newbie floor traders are taught a handful of basics just to keep from getting eaten alive by the "regulars." You will be extremely motivated to read these other two and then re-read Trader's Edge and keep it close for reminders. Second must read is John Murphy's latest, The Visual Investor, has been out about 18 months, and is available from his website: murphymorris.com I just came back from John's website and discovered he now has a series of CD's or VHS tapes to supplement this Visual Investor Book reco...I haven't seen them. Third, and probably the finest "pattern book" available, is Linda Raschke/Larry Conners jointly written book, Street Smarts . (Overview: mrci.com Looks like one has to order from Trader's press mentioned above, altho' I got mine from Linda personally. Her particular book---note the sub-title says: "...And Equities" ---is VERY well laid out as revealing about 20 patterns that can and do make one money, REGULARLY. You can be short or long term, looking for long or short positions, or adding to or taking profits in the interim for long term position players, and benefit from this one. And yes, these "Raschke" patterns can be used to spot options opportunities with a little practice as well. Her premise is that if one masters 1 to 3 patterns, one can make their living by searching for those 1 to 3 patterns. Everything she teaches in that jewel is applicable to the stock market side, as she is primarily a commodity trader, BUT she also plays stocks real-time and uses the same pattern searchs/screens for trading ops. She is phenomenally successful in her disciplined approach to the markets, as I have heard her speak. And she does it all from a home-office after several years on the floor of the Pacific Stock Exchange where she cut her teeth on this scene. I FERVENTLY believe in all 3 of these books because they have made such a difference in my investments (and yes, back in my trading days, a/w.) Hope you are able to maximize these to your benefit. Good Luck, BDG. Study is so important, and I applaud you for being willing to apply yourself to your "craft." O/49r
