Kash,

Heard about the glut of 600s? Apparently there are large quantities of Intel's low-end Cumines hitting Frys.

My guess is that with so many Intel fabs trying to fill those higher bins we are going to see some real ugliness at the low end.

If Intel lets it happen then it will kill off Celeron and K6-2 pretty quickly, but with Athlon yielding in the upper MHz ranges now and 1GHz fairly plentiful (even before Dresden comes online) AMD is in a pretty comfortable position whatever happens.

Could be some shakeups though. Are the mobo manufacturers ready for a big shift in demand?

Hi Kash,

It really is a pretty amazing turn of events. Dresden is coming on line as AMD's CPU FAB for all ranges from cheap (spitfire) to high end (Athlon PRO) and Austin is being converted to flash, because it can't make fast enough CPUs. And Intel can't keep up with Austin!

Regards,

Dan
