Re: Quite a change from last year when it seemed Intel had to play catch-up to AMD...

Sure is. A quick trip over to pricewatch.com to check out availability of 750, 800, and 850 MHZ parts will show that Intel is once again solidly back in the MHZ drivers seat.

Regards and sleep well, secure in the knowledge that your Intel investment needs no monitoring :-)

Dan

PS - Perhaps Panicking Paul should stop calling people names over on the AMD thread - it's so unnecessary and can give the "little people" over there ideas.

Well Intel called AMD's bluff and now we'll see what she's really got.

Adam, re:<I'm quite happy that AMD is now reacting to Intel's moves, with Intel clearly taking the proactive leadership role.>

If Intel is in the leadership, why can't they get Compaq to ship a 1 GHz PeeWee3 computer before THursday, when the 1 GHz COmpaq Athlon ships?

Sounds like Intel is behind.

Best Buy is only advertising a 600 MHz PeeWee3. Right next to the 800 MHz HP Athlon system.

But Intel will probably regain the lead for 2-3 months in December when a few P4's ship.

Adam, <AMD is now reacting to Intel's moves>

It appears that the OEMs and hardware review sites have had 1GHz systems in their hands for some time now.

If this is how AMD react to Intel's moves then Intel had better watch out, because to have this effect AMD must be reacting faster than light can travel.
