When I suggested that some shares be earmarked for posters, I didn't mean that they should be given at no charge, I just meant that some shares ought to be "directed" to certain people who were enthusiastic enough to post comments to one of these public boards. As I understand it, the Company or the Underwriters can use some criteria to direct that a certain number of shares be allocated to certain selected individuals. I just meant that they could be sold to these selected individuals at the IPO price. After all, the brokers can also select individuals to sell shares of an IPO to. Doesn't CMGI bestow a certain number of shares of their new IPOs to the current holders of CMGI?

The idea behind this is to pump up pre IPO interest. I think it would be good for the Company coming out with the new IPO and it could be good for the individuals who are looking at these IPOs too. Just a suggestion to add a little excitement. I'll bet that the first Company to do it would get a lot of free publicity for their IPO.

If anyone actually did it, I doubt if they would just single out SI. Perhaps the top four boards, SI, Raging Bull, Motley Fool and Yahoo could be included. <G>.

So if they just sell the shares to posters at the IPO price, it wouldn't actually cost the issuing Company anything. I can't see any downside to this for the Company issuing the IPO. As I pointed out for this DVIN pre IPO Board, we could be talking about only 6000 or 7000 shares to be allocated this way. I'll bet the press would pick it up and you'd have a lot of interest in the new issue without the Company having to say anything during their quiet period. If anyone uses this idea, I think I deserve a pretty nice allocation of shares to be bought by me at the IPO price. <G>.
