Kemble, most states have sales or use taxes. New York State does. I know it had a program to check to see if businesses and law firms were paying use taxes on computers they bought -whether out of state, thru catalogue or thru the net.
If you didn't pay sales tax on the computers you bought from dell, you owe sales tax with interest and penalties. Of course, you can afford to pay, because you've been long dell. When you compared prices, didn't you factor in cost of sales tax and shipping? If you pay taxes when you buy a dell computer, you can do better buying elsewhere and avoiding the shipping costs.
