Shark has the technical potential to take business away from EMC, particularly since they now have Fibre Channel interfaces (or have announced them.) The problem that IBM, and SUNW for that matter, faces is the allegiance and loyalty to EMC. That loyalty is more to their management software than the actual hardware. It would be difficult task to retrain the storage administrators who have EMC mgt. down cold. Some IT folks will bite the bullet, because the hardware cost is lower, but EMC will win most of the battles with this argument alone. That is only IMHO, based on what I have seen at lots of end-user sites. buck
