Dan,

Thanks for pointing me to killer-opinion piece number 2 for the day. Indirectly, this piece is all about the mind-set of many on this board. He nails them. Amazing what common sense will do for you. Check back on this board a year from now and hear the gnashing of teeth when they're waking up every morning and hearing NPR say: "President Albert Gore appointed the heir to William J. Brennan to the Supreme Court today...." Ah, but their favorite sport anyway is complaining about "Da Dirty Dems"....

That really was a good article.

This situation is amazing. The Republicans have in McCain a popular charismatic dedicated conservative with leadership ability (i.e. another Reagan - only he'd be younger and more vigorous when he took office) and the Republican leadership and their lemming like followers are doing their best to cast him aside for a shallow loser. Why are they spurning a sure victory? Suicide wish? Or is protecting the special-interest gravy train more important than winning the White House and getting a chance to implement their policies?
