Sam: Re: "How many funds are actually up sharply for the year today?"

If a fund is up this year, it has overweighted technology most likely.

Re: "While you were gone, we had a 'He should raise margin rates instead of interest rates' discussion. Wonder if you care to weigh in on that one again."

Well he should do both IMO. But I have a different vacation induced question. If interest rates have increased 100 basis points over the past year, then why have the margin loan rates not increased one basis point in my brokerage account? If one wants to reduce margin borrowing, it will be hard to do if stiffs like myself can get a margin loan at 6.75% no matter how high short term rates go. Have you or anyone else had this experience?

Re: "I find the Greenman's argument about productivity leading to inflation to be a strenuous reaching for a reason to do something, to play hero once again."

This seems to be developing into a stump speech favorite.
The Greenman is playing prevent defense with his 25 basis point moves. Moreover, the Greenman has announced that he plans to use the prevent defense without a blitz. A prevent defense gives the other team (the economy) the chance to establish momentum. Well, the economy (and Naz for that matter) already had momentum and so it will continue on that track now that it knows how the Greenman will play the game.

Re: "Welcome back, Justa."

Thank you.
