Jess, here is the statement I thought most significant:

<On day one, they must compete against more mature chipsets from Analog Devices and Lucent Microelectronics. Chipsets from both of these customers have been on the market for sometime now, and both customers are in the process of improving and enhancing their products to respond to rapidly evolving requirements in the DSL market. With Analog Devices we have developed full-rate ADSL and G.lite chipsets that are being sold to Cisco, Nortel, Lucent, Efficient, Hyundai, ECI Telecom, Newbridge Networks, Samsung, and 3Com among others. Working with Aware, ADI has had solutions on the market longer than Virata has been developing physical layer technology. >

I believe these comments were prepared by the CEO. This is a statement of confidence. This new company isn't going to displace ADI at CSCO NT etc. Furthermore, ADI/INTC and others knew this company was developing this stuff months ago but did not contract with them. They contracted with AWRE and most likely will team up and develop similar improvements. AWRE/ADI/INTC will most likely even deliver this before virata.
