Paul,

Merck's Singulair has been on the market for a while now, and this is just a pediatric dose formulation. It's been a pretty successful drug, growing fairly rapidly, with current sales of $500m and sales estimated to reach over $1.5 billion within the next three to four years.

Again this is used to treat chronic asthma, competing with steroids and Intal. I would bet that every person with a Singulair prescription also has an albuterol/Xopenex script. An individual's albuterol use should decline with successful treatment with steroids or Singulair, but it doesn't go away altogether.

Peter

Control Asthma In Children Two to Five Years of Age>

Between Asthma and ADD [and derrivs] has anyone done studies as to whether there is truly an explosion of problems, or just more people treating problems that we and our parents also had??? I mean I can't believe the athma cases [#] I've seen in my daughters groups.... and the ritalin use in friends kids schools.
