"When we first began discussing bandwidth commodities, they were not likened to pork bellies, exactly."

Frank,

This idea of bandwidth commodities is a fascinating one. It seems to me there is a significant infrastructure and numerous competitors sharing a lot of it. I think there will also be early and intensive political pressure to assure that part of it is free or very low cost. Yes, I think you will eventually hear the argument:

"Is bandwidth a right or a privilege?"

With the predictable political maneuvering.

Does anyone know if there is a point where bandwidth requirements theoretically peak or at least plateau? It seems to me that if you have a fairly good handle on the current infrastructure you can do some interesting arithmetic. Shaky assumptions would be a given, but it might be worth it, especially if you think about trading bandwidth futures.
