Could not a hedged position not be viewed as the same as(or worseor even worse than) debt in a raising price environment?

If abx is a better company than go for it. Today nem is up .56 @ 22.56, while barrick is squeezing out .06 at 16.1875. For trading, it is a no brainer nem over barrick. A significant number of gold investors recognize barrick as a corrosive force that has helped savage the gold industry.
