Hello Johno, I guess the Dr has by now given you the thumbs up or the Roman Emperor's thumbs down! The new golf clubs are stupid! They have graphite shafts, shiny new metal bits on the end, nice grips and a flash new bag with lots of zips to put things in. Also, I bought a golf glove [never having used one I wanted to ensure things went well]. I got new tees and a flash hat to protect me from sun [or, in this case, rain]. I was even given some QUALCOMM logo golf balls by Jon Koplik who is ever-after appreciated. Well, those stupid clubs are NOT fully automatic though cars and most other things are. I held them properly and even waved them vigorously at the ball and they did NOT perform as promised. I was sure the salesman [who sold them to me, at a GolfUSA store which was closing down, on a no returns or exchanges basis] assured me that I would get more loft with them, better 'flick through' or something and most assuredly a much reduced score. Well, you know they do things upside down up here? Well, I barely broke 100. So they must figure a lot of numbers are good. They sure did cheer and clap and whistle when Irwin Jacobs came on in Symphony Hall [which is quite flash] to tell us and show us how many and big the numbers he is dealing with are getting. Even the Qualcomm ball didn't work very well. I hope the Globalstar satellites work better than the Qualcomm balls. New puter eh? Still doesn't seem to type very fast though [or spell all that well or even do really cool apostophes!!] I bet there was a lot of commotion when 'Black Magic' NZL60 and Prada were towed into port after a 5-0 victory over all those USA yachts and others. AmericaOne, sponsored by SAIC did really well - bad luck Rich Belanger! Next time, with the huge asset value growth SAIC is getting and their investments, they should be able to sponsor something REALLY serious. Prada's $100m will look a joke. I think Globalstar will do a big sponsoring at the next America's Cup race. Perhaps of the venue or something generic as they couldn't sponsor a particular country. Maybe they could sponsor MV 'Globalstar' - the world versus individual countries. Maybe QUALCOMM would put a bunch of money into the Globalstar effort too!! The shareholders' meeting [I'm not sure that that's a really cool apostrophe but I think so] was really neat. Irwin and Joan Jacobs' photo is on the wall since they are Symphony Sponsors. An impressive building. Sort of like the interior of The Civic, but without the lions with glowing eyes and the stars in the ceiling. Much bigger though. Nothing really new came up [that I noticed anyway]. But it's all going really well and it shouldn't be too long before Qualcomm exceeds Microsoft, Intel and IBM's market capitalisations combined, even though Microsoft is trying to get a grip on the WWeb and is forming joint ventures with Qualcomm [and others] flat out. Sailing was really fun! Especially when Caxton Rhodes, ran us aground and Ramsey had to bring his exemplary skills to bear, order us all to the left side, which is where they keep the port, start the engine and get into reverse. Pretty soon we were heading for the channel. Caxton's a pretty cool dude though! I wonder if he was distracted by Anita [TM] instead of the depthfinder which is a boring little gadget down low and hard to watch. CU Maurice
