One reason productivity is supposedly going up is because workers are now more likely to be compensated on a fixed basis (i.e. salary) and these workers are working a whole lot longer than their reported standard work week - as in 60 hours rather than the reported 37.5.

I've never seen anything to support this other than tons of anecdotal stuff so who knows how large the effects are. All these stats are becoming worthless. Kinda like reported earnings. -g- The age of lies.

IMHO, productivity is way overstated. Tons of people at work goofing around with the WWW and email as reported in studies and evidenced by me first hand at several cos. is not being reported in gov't stats.

Look for example at the CPI and how that isn't calculated properly even though they have solid and accurate data. Now I'm expected to believe they accurately calculate productivity with no data? -f-

MM, the latest Richebacher letter rips apart the GDP and productivity numbers. The numbers are Clintonista lies! mike
