but why? I can't see the need when the control software is located in the process control equipment in the control rooms. I can't see a reason to network valves, temp. sensing, flow control, product movement, etc etc. You run the control wire to a MOV, or a pneumatically control valve mostly basic stuff from the field MUX which is network back to the control room. The only reason would be to reduce wire, and but why add complexity to already harsh environment, see a no reason to. Maybe in a remote location, not in a plant. There is not way ELON is going to replace of the Foxboro's and Honeywell's in the plant control. What GE and Tosh. are talking about are plant control/Process control equipment, you know screens, with the process laid out on it in a diagram for plant operators to run the plant.
