Hi Bargain Hunter,

Some of the confusion about WIND's Linux position is the distinction between Linux as a host (i.e. the developer uses a Linux desktop) versus Linux as an embedded OS. My understanding was that WIND will offer the former and not the latter and does not expect other suppliers' embedded Linux to be a threat.

Hmmm.... I didn't understand it as you did, but I see your point. I will listen to the CC from the Embedded Conference again.

Embedded Linux is a large footprint system and would be more of a threat to other large footprint embedded systems.

There are embedded Linux with small footprints.

Footprint is not a major deal for some of the embedded markets that WRS is participating in. Take the TiVo as an example, it has a very large hard disk. How much difference does a few megabyte make?
