I am not sure I am getting your point. This Senator is a Democrat, so why should it disturb him if Gore gets elected? Can you be a bit clearer on your thoughts?

At the Humphrey Hawkins meeting even then both Republicans and Democrats put the heat on Greenspan about his stance.

Hardly a soul can understand WHAT the FED is doing. Right now the FED is more than just a third Party. Looks like they are holding businesses and consumers hostage.

Why do we need a President, Congress and Senate when it's up to the FED to dictate which course we are taking in our economy? It's mostly businesses that gave us this great economy. Why don't we add foreign policies to the FEDS agenda and we can dispose of some of those forementioned institutions? gg. The FED used to take care of the dollar. Now they are in the business of dictating how many people should have jobs, they want to determine what is the right price for the stock market. The FED used to say, we don't do that but it is very clear now that they are targeting the market. I thought this was a free market society? I am surprised that the FED only worries about the trade deficit and doesn't write policies on that. Sheesh. All this looks almost like a one Party system. The Party of the FED. His speeches get more ridiculous by the day. The FED is at a loss of understanding this new economy. He speaks of understanding it, but he does not, when you really listen to him. I don't think you have to be an expert to know that jacking up rates without inflation, makes no sense. He IS undermining the old economy stocks and those cos. are directly affected by interest rates. When you can't raise prices because of imports etc. and you have to deal with higher interest rates to boot, is it a wonder when nobody wants to buy these cos. anymore?

Yes, Oil is going too high. But something could be done about that or something should have been done about it a long time ago.
