JQP,
PKD will be a beneficiary of Boom 2000. The numbers look bad right now but it's my belief that the CEO's guidance is on target and that owning the stock now will reap rewards later in the year. While there is nice volume with PKD if you want to trade it, I think it's better off in a buy+hold portfolio.

According to Robert L. Parker, Jr., president and chief executive officer, "The drilling activity in the Gulf of Mexico continues to improve. Our jack-up rig fleet is experiencing high utilization and dayrates are improving with each new contract."

Parker went on to say, "Utilization of international land rigs remains low. However, with anticipated higher spending by operators, driven by increasing demand for oil and gas and strong commodity prices, it is our expectation that the international land sector will show better financial results in the second half of 2000." Parker added, "Recently, Parker Drilling signed letters of intent to provide two land rigs for our customer, Tengizchevroil, in Kazakhstan. With 42 marketable international land rigs and expanding work in Kazakhstan, there is upside potential for this sector of our company."
