DPA UNCLE KILLS NEPHEW TO AVOID REPAYING 30 DOLLARS 178646 Mar 7 2000 10:56 Beirut (dpa) - A Syrian man has been sentenced to death for killing his nephew to avoid paying him 30 dollars, the Lebanese national new agency, ANI, said Tuesday. The criminal court in the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon sentenced Hassan Ali Salameh, 39, to death for killing his nephew, Mohammed Salameh, ANI said without mentioning the date of the murder. Hassan killed Mohammed by hitting him with sharp instrument on the head, the agency said. He then dumped Mohammed's body in a lake after burning his clothes and stealing 13 dollars from his pockets, the agency said. Lebanon revived the death penalty after the 1975-90 civil war ended.
