Those classical guys are NOTHING compared to the old-school "stride" jazz and boogie-woogie guys of the 40s and 50s.. Almost all of those guys were entirely self taught, and their hands move so fast you can't even see what they're doing.

People make fun of Harry Connick Jr for being such a cheeze-ball, but back before he got into acting and writing his own (lame) music, he would put on amazing concerts. There's a video of one of his early concerts right around the time his soundtrack for When Harry Met Sally came out.. the song was a boogie-woogie interpretation of Avalon, and he basically tore that Steinway apart with an unbelievable amount of speed and energy. In the closeups he was literally pouring sweat all over the keys from the exertion.
I can't recall ever having my jaw literally drop after seeing a musician play, except that time..
