Just as interesting as the strength of the XAU vs. the DOW was that the XAU's move was significantly disproportionate to the move of gold. Recent Au rallies have seemed weakly supported by the XAU. The usual move averages 3%:1% XAU:gold - todays move was in excess of that. The final confirmation of the precious metals bull will be an XAU that moves upward even when gold is still or is mildly weak.

If the XAU continues to move contrary to the DOW and NASDAQ, the precious metals bull may become a reality by virtue of nothing more than sector rotation. In which case we will one day thank the absurd valuations of todays market for exposing gold for what it is.
