Thought you weren't going to comment about the S&P. <g> I knew you couldn't stick to that one! Maybe tomorrow...

buying pressure over a period of time--even weeks after it gets added.
How about buying pressure weeks before it gets added. Look at EMC or GMST or LVLT. Big buys even though there was no real news. I think the fund families are now making their guesses and building their inventories for those companies which may be included into the DOW or S&P500 in the near future. JDSU has had good volume and upward pressure for awhile, for this reason, and because it's a good stock in general. When the day comes for the index announcements I think most fund families are going to let the day traders go wild while they quietly transfer shares in the background.

I agree with you, t2. The funds that already have JDSU don't want to "give it up" to another fund, simply because it's part of a family. (And I don't know how widespread this setup is anyway). That doesn't make a whole bunch of sense since the fund then loses.

They don't have to buy the day it's added...I remember w/ AOL, it stayed flat for a while adn the buying flurry was the afternoon of the last day (the funds hoped to get it for cheaper, inducing a little panic selling). For QCOM there was, I recall a set price. It didn't ramp up instantly.

I think JDSU will be added sooner or later. It's a new new world as Michael Lewis says. JDSU belongs there, with its growing market cap.
