Newsweek takes them all on, just like McCain did. Good for Newsweek, not so good for McCain of course. Probably not so good for the Republican party either, but that's their problem. W's backers would like to pick and choose on this one, just like they'll want to softpedal the Roe issue like mad until after the election.

I think the country is strong enough to survive any of these guys, but it's depressing that we can't do better.

Surprise, surprise!! I agree wholeheartedly with you on this thought.

But I don't think that just going to Bob Jones means that Bush accepts or endorses those positions. In fact, isn't a candidacy about selling yourself and your ideas, persuading people to see things your way? I wouldn't criticize him for the appearance. JLA
