same kind of bungee jump drop Many tech stocks dropped when CSCO went below a key threshold. The ones that didn't are the most notable of the candidates for S&P500 or DOW inclusion. There are $$$ to be made from this observation (IMHO). Of those I follow EMC, LVLT, and GMST all received some of the flood of money leaving the DOW and current S&P500. TP (Long on JDSU for it's own merits, not for arbitrage)

Brian P.I think folks here are ahead of themselves a bit with this S&P 500 thing, for the reasons you mention Actually, I am one of those that started talking about this a few months ago. I have learning over this time about the type of companies that are being added and speculating on a major overhaul that may be planned by the folks at S and P. If they don't make changes in the way they add companies, JDSU might still not make it in the very near term. I have been preparing a list of candidates based upon what i believe is their real critereon and not just what they post on their website. I do think JDSU will get in soon. I bet it is a major topic of discussion for them and pressure may be building up due to the huge market cap and rapid growth in revenues. On an operating basis, they are making money. My list of possibilities is about 8 stocks for now. Still doing the research. I am making my decision based upon what I have seen the S and P do in the past few months. It sure frusterated me why JDSU was not added BUT this gave me the opportunity to try to figure them out. All I need to do is get a few right.
