API comment: "We stole that crude oil from Europe but we are not
producing any more or consuming any less so the overall situation
on crude oil is unchanged," said Tim Evans, senior energy analyst
at Pegasus Econometric Group in New York.

Inventories were bolstered by an increase in imports to 9.20
million barrels a day, the highest rate since late August.

The surge in inventories reported by the API ``gives us a
little bit of space,' said Evans. If Saudi Arabia and Iran
``don't find an agreement tomorrow the market will be nervous
again,' he said.
